Skarhult castle is one of Skåne’s best preserved brick strongholds, certain parts date from the 16th century. For a brief period Skarhult was owned by the Swedish king, Karl XIV Johan, who died in 1844.

The castle and park are open for visits from April 28th 2016 until 18th September 2016. There are several exhibitions to discover. The main one, Power in disguise, portrays the life of 20 chatelaines, presented in the halls which these women built, lived and died in. These women’s lives and aspirations are displayed up close and these women have with their own courage, will-power, and ambition determined the history of the castle.
The new exhibition Power in disguise and the lovers tells the story of history's secret lovers and mistresses. Three additional halls will be opened and visitors will be welcomed to the castle's private guest-rooms, where several amorous meetings have taken place throughout the centuries.
It is also possible to take a walk in the park, surrounding the castle, visit the small but richly decorated 12th century church or have lunch and coffee in the café.

Our opening hours are Wednesday - Sunday 11 am - 5 pm.
